Shining in the Dark

Anyone can Shine when the sky is bright.
But it's so much harder to do so, when your world is not quite right.
It's easier to feel the motivation when everything is going your way.
But what happens when it doesn't?  How long will your shine stay?

When life turns against you and slowly falls apart.
Do you let yourself crumble?  Do you let the darkness into your heart?
When you feel the shadow pushing and  the doubt begins to grow.  You start to think you don't know how. Which way will you go.

How to keep on pushing.  How to not give in.
How to keep the darkness from crushing you from within.
You can't look to others for the answer that hides inside of you.
You need to pick yourself back up and pull yourself right through.

You can't let the shine extinguish beneath a flood of doubt.
You need to search inside yourself and find what your shine is all about.
For if you truly want it, you will find it somewhere deep.
You need to believe in yourself and take a hopeful leap.

If you can pull the shine back out, even in the dark.
Then you will reach what you're aiming for.  You will hit the mark.
For the shine isn't about what comes easy.  It's a struggle to keep it lit.
Daylight or in darkness.  A shiner doesn't quit.
